Energetic exercise or quiet relaxation ... the choice is entirely yours.
When you're not working, you'll want to relax in whichever way suits you best. You might just want to sit and watch the river flow by, or you might want to go for a really good workout.

Rowing and punting are popular with guests At Hemingford Grey House, you can

  • play tennis on one of our two all-weather courts.
  • go coarse fishing in season just a few yards from the house.
  • play croquet on the lawn.
  • go rowing on the river during the summer.

    As a guest, all of these are free to you. You won't pay a penny for any of them.

    For the more energetic, there's a track around the edge of our "donkey field" for you to run round. If you prefer to go at a slower pace, there are plenty of river and meadow walks. Or you can simply choose to sit in the lounge and read one of the newspapers put there for you daily.

    For golfers, there's a course in the adjacent village of Hemingford Abbotts as well as in St Ives where you'll also find an indoor and outdoor recreation complex with squash and badminton courts, swimming pool, gym, sauna, and more. We're happy to make the arrangements in advance for you if you'd like us to.

    On the other hand, if all you need to relax is a drink and good company ....

    The bar and games room
    Relax and enjoy a drink in the bar You’ll find the cash bar and its adjacent games room in the main house. Normally open between 6pm and 11pm (although it can of course be opened at whatever times suit your course programme), you can choose from a selection of drinks at very reasonable pub prices. And on warm summer evenings, you're more than welcome to sit outside by the river to enjoy them.

    In the games room, right next door to the bar, you'll find a pool table.
